Perceptions:
A One-Stop Shop
Here are some interesting trivia on what we’ve done:
- Perceptions´ Rene Nieva penned the lyrics to the catchy "Biyahe Tayo!" song, which led many a Pinoy to visit his country’s 7,107 islands. Quite a feat, considering it was Nieva’s first time to write a song.
- Perceptions has overseen the publication of two very different books. The first, it researched, wrote, designed and printed within 60 days from start to finish an investment promotion handbook entitled "The Philippines: Back in Business in the Heart of Asia" which then Philippine President Fidel Ramos used for his investment promotion trip to the United States. The other book was "Tears?" a collection of photographs of 42 artists shot by ace Filipino lensman Jun de Leon as part of Visine’s Tears of Hope, Tears of Health campaign. Perceptions wrote and edited all the text and profiles of each artist for the book which was sold as part of fundraising efforts for the Eyebank Foundation of the Philippines.
- Most of the celebrity invitations to be part of Bonamine’s "Biyahe Tayo!" campaign were done via "cold invites". A good cause and a well-written letter always get attention and, of course, it’s always good to know the right people – which we do.
- With its in-house Production and PR account teams capable of doubling as production managers and extra manpower, Perceptions has the capability and experience in organizing and handling all aspects of event management, from planning to summary reports of conferences, conventions, seminars, inaugurations, anniversaries, trade fair exhibits, open house and plant tours, VIP visits, concerts, radio and TV shows and round-tables, sports competitions, etc. One of the most memorable "feats" they did, in order to ensure that two mall shows could happen in one day, was to hire police escorts for a truck carrying mascot costumes!
- No celebrity liaison was engaged to organize 48 artists to sit and be photographed by Jun de Leon for Visine’s award-winning "Tears of Hope, Tears of Health" campaign.
- Megastar Sharon Cuneta, among others, called Perceptions’ Noel Nieva, "Direk" (Director) when they were shooting the Biyahe Tayo video in a small studio in Makati. Noel did a good job of not letting on that he’d never done anything like it before.
- Perceptions’ Media Training service is the only one of its kind offered in the Philippines, and is comparable to those offered by international and regional PR agencies in other markets. The agency combines its team’s exposure to the global PR industry, 23 years experience in dealing with Philippine media, in-depth research and close coordination with the in-house PR staff of clients to present world-class, localized and, more importantly, individually-tailored media training modules that ensure a relevant and useful experience for each participant. Clients which have had their management officers trained under Perceptions include, most recently, Microsoft Philippines, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Philippines B.V., Johnson & Johnson (Philippines), Inc., MSD and SIEMENS.
- Many a Perceptions team member can fondly look back at a "toxic" project that may have involved pizza at the office at 1 a.m., trips to exotic places like Tawi-Tawi, and briefing everyone from suppliers to CEOs. Every Perceptions team member is a chameleon – an account person is involved in all aspects, be it writing, media relations or events.
